ISPS: Intelligent Spark Protection System
The Intelligent Spark Protection System (ISPS) by United Machining uses Spark Track technology to monitor and control electrical discharges during wire EDM.
It detects spark location and intensity in real time, automatically adjusting cutting parameters to prevent wire breakage and optimize machining.
This adaptive system handles complex geometries—like tapers and cavities—without manual intervention, ensuring precision and reducing downtime.
Combined with iWire optimization, ISPS can cut wire consumption by up to 40%, improving efficiency and lowering costs.
Available on Spark Track-equipped CUT P and CUT 2000/3000 series machines, ISPS delivers safer, faster, and more consistent EDM performance.
Spark Track
Through 50 years of innovation in the area of Wire EDM technology, AGIE CHARMILLES has become the acknowledged leader in spark generation and control. In 2019 we paved the way for the next generation of Wire EDM machines by mastering each single spark separately, with Spark Track:
- Cutting-edge sensors detect in real-time where each discharge takes place along the wire, as well as its intensity
- This data is then processed using dedicated software
- The information processed results in a multitude of application modules to better control the cutting process
